Carpentry & Reproductions

With nearly 50 years in business and more than 100 historic renovations undertaken during that time, we have the knowledge and experience necessary to perform structural repairs and custom reproduce antique molding, trim, windows and doors.

Historically Accurate Custom Reproductions

Our work relies on the understanding of historic buildings and period design details, and we pair that knowledge with the use of hand tools and modern technology to manufacture all carpentry in our shop and bring it directly to your antique home for installation.

We have meticulously researched historic periods so that we can faithfully reproduce the shapes of molding and utilize techniques like old world joinery to restore and renovate everything from Colonials to Greek Revivals to Victorians to the finest detail.

In many cases, we will order rough materials, use reclaimed material, and then cut to size. We have been successful in locating antique doors and architectural artifacts, including some hardware for numerous projects, and because we make our own custom crown molding, we can match up virtually any molding found on an antique house. Looking for authentic casing or historic reproduction windows to match your antique home? Our skilled craftsmen can make it for you.

Authentic Replicas from Authentic Materials

When restoring the 1835 Captain Benjamin Freeman House in Brewster in 2012, we rebuilt the dilapidated structure of the carriage house and fully renovated it. We added a custom kitchen, built-in cabinets, bookcases, and reclaimed heart pine beams to the ceiling and the archway separating the shared kitchen. We also installed heart pine flooring on the first floor and the salvaged flooring from the building on the second floor. We custom made all the stair treads and handrails from reclaimed heart pine.

In the main house, we built a new custom kitchen, a custom library and a built-in pantry. We also designed and built a 30×40 three-bay garage/workshop that was completely finished on the interior. Over the following years, we have continued working on the buildings on the property.

Custom Carpentry Projects

No project is too large or small for us. If you have a sentimental memory of a mahogany or walnut knee hole desk at your grandmother’s house that you played at when you were a child, bring us your idea and we will build you a close, if not exact, replica.

We can custom design and build entryways to replicate period details, complete with hand-made brackets, precisely match existing antique window sashes or fashion period-perfect reproduction antique doors with beveled glass.

Throughout the process, we will treat you and your property with respect, pay attention to all the details and strive to make your dreams a reality.
